Wandering through the city of Baldur’s Gate 3 is cool and a bit bewildering. The city is a lot brighter than I remember from BG2. In that game, it was a scarier place. Also the buildings look a lot more luxurious. In that sense, the city feels less real, than in the previous game or say the city of Novigrad from the Witcher 3. I expected a lot more shady areas. But I guess they made everything bigger so the Steel Watch can go everywhere. That certainly was a better option than just making smaller robots. And that the presence of the watch cleared the city of evildoers.
Anyway, the quests in the city are pretty cool. I’ve beaten Auntie Ethel again, although I had to look online for the way to save the girl. I never messed with potions before. I generally don’t like alchemy in games. And that’s fine on the default difficulty setting.
I’ve beaten the wizard in his tower. I’ve collected about half of the scattered limbs of clown (yuck!). I’ve talked to a flying cat, but couldn’t find the flying golden elephant anymore.
I walked into the local office of both Shar and Bhaal and got my ass handed to me. I also took a submarine to an underwater lair, but managed to screw it up. At least I now know what’s in store for me later on.
I managed to free Minsk from mind control, but only after consulting the Internet. Turns out you can knock enemies down and not kill them. I wholly forgot about that option. I must have glanced over that toggle a thousand times by now. The fight was pretty easy. Probably because I was a bit overlevelled by now. What probably helped was that I had cleared out the area already. The initial revelation of Minsk was of course spoiled already by the Internet.
I’m wondering what I should do next to progress the story. It looks like I need to do the Bhaal thing again. But I have to figure out how too deceive the Tribunal. It didn’t go so well the first time…
