Catching up with Evercade releases

After my purchase of Data East Arcade 2 (#12) in April and before that Tomb Raider (#40) and Legacy of Kain (#41) in January, I started to lag behind on the Evercade releases. Part of the reason for that is the limited availability of the newest releases. They were sold out everywhere, which was slightly worrying.

Thus when I noticed that they were available again at Funstock, I immediately took the bait. Metal Dragon & Life on Mars (#42), Indie Heroes Collection 4 (#43) and Toaplan Arcade 4 (#13) are in the house! I’ve already played a little bit of Indie Heroes and Toaplan Arcade and this batch is looking like great additions. I’m sure that once I finish Baldur’s Gate 3, I will have a blast with these.

These carts look more promising than the latest and upcoming red cart releases: Broken Sword and Tomb Raider collection 2 look like mediocre additions. I love Broken Sword, but not per se on Evercade, although I was planning to replay part 2, and maybe I’ll do that on Evercade. The Gremlin Collection 2 looks okay.

The latest and upcoming arcade carts look more more up my alley than the previous releases, because I’m not big into shumps. Atari is always great on Evercade and Windjammers looks fun (I love Shufflepuck Café on the Amiga, and recently loved playing airhockey in the National Videogame Museum.) Neo Geo is awesome because I never seriously played any of those games.

I’m happy that the recent carts are available again, but I sadly was a bit overeager to get my hands on them. A couple of days after they arrived, I visited the National Videogame Museum and they sold them in their shop! I would have much rather purchased them physically and from them. And they were cheaper too. Argh!
