30 hours into Cyberpunk

The last big game I started in 2024 was Cyberpunk 2077. I’m now 30 hours into the game and I’m enjoying it for the most part. There are a couple of things I like about the game and a couple of things I don’t like as much.

The thing I like the most is the game world. The futuristic city is magnificent. I love driving around the city in cars and especially on motorcycles. The in cockpit view is my favorite.
The thing I don’t like as much is that the main story has too many QuickTime events. I often feel like I’d rather watch the movie.

I like the default difficulty settings. I don’t love shooters and the game takes care of that for me with auto aiming. I still have to make a bit of an effort, but not too much. Comparable to Fallout‘s V.A.T.S., albeit a different approach. Sneaking is not my preferred play style either (I must be one of the few Skyrim players to not gravitate towards the stealth archer), but this game makes it enjoyable. Although my cover gets blown half the time and I decide to go mayhem after all, which is fun. I’ve spread my skills rather evenly, so hacking camera’s and people’s equipment often gets the job done.

I’ve already done some fun side quests, like helping a deranged AI taxi service, and I’m hoping that there will be more of that.

One of the last fights I got into was so funny that I just have to mention it: I had to fight a super strong lady that I just couldn’t kill. After the second time, I noticed that she went to pick up a giant hammer as soon as she spotted me. On the next try I picked it up before she could and beat her with it. Excellent stuff!

I do think the whole tone of the game is a bit too depressed for me though. People are all so mean to each other, it’s really putting me off.
