Big box Return to Monkey Island finally arrived!

After a failed delivery attempt, the moment I’ve been waiting for for essentially the last two years has finally arrived: the Big Box Version of Return to Monkey Island is here! Ever since the excellent announcement of Return, I’ve been hoping for an actual big box release. And it’s almost everything I could have wanted. It matches the old boxes in style, it’s colorful and it has almost all the right goodies, such as a booklet, a pamphlet, a letter from the legendary developers, a poster, an usb floppy disk and the soundtrack on CD. There’s not much else to wish for. I’m not big on the other stuff, but the key is nice I guess. The fish is also nice, but it isn’t something that I remember about the game. Let alone the lure. I would rather have had a map than those things. Or maybe a miniature wooden puppet of LeChuck.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to replaying the game with proper immersion made possible by this physical release. First though, I’ll have to play through Escape and Tales again. Those are the only games that remain in my playthrough of all the LucasArts classic adventures in chronological order that I started in 2018/19 with Maniac Mansion and followed up with Zak McKracken, etc.
