Final Fantasy VI SNES manual, map and box

I have been playing my first Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy VI, for a couple of weeks now. I’m playing it on the SNES Classic, which gladdens my heart, because that way the little console finally sees more use.

I’m enjoying the game very much, but I noticed that I was resorting to the manual quite frequently to figure out the more complicated aspects of the game. And that was an annoying experience. I absolutely detest reading digital pdf files. That’s a bit of a peeve of mine. I hate the constant scrolling and my diminishing eyesight doesn’t help either.

What a shame that the SNES Classic has no built-in manual like the Wii U has. There’s only a link to an online manual. It would have been so cool if they had implemented that feature from the Wii U!

But seeing that I’m more a physical guy anyway, I decided to look for a physical copy of the manual. That wasn’t easy. I wasn’t going to pay exorbitant prices for a CIB US copy of the game and manuals alone go for crazy money. I also don’t want to start a SNES collection. And I didn’t want a PS1 copy, because of what I’ve seen of that manual it looks ugly. So I resorted to a reproduction of the SNES manual from Etsy. And while I was at it, I thought I might as well get the map and the box as well.

It took some time to arrive and I was afraid that I would have finished the game before it would arrive, but that was not the case. I’m currently at a difficult part of the game and put it aside for a bit. The reproduction comes right on time to motivate me to get back into it.

The package looks very nice and will be a great addition to the collection to remind me of the fun I had with the game. If I enjoy the second half that is. Although I expect that to be the case. I’m listening to the Final Fantasy music a lot and the final boss music is amazing. I’m looking forward to playing through that!
