Final Fantasy VI won!

The first time I tried Kefka’s tower my party was in the low 40s/high 30s. I got to the final battle but got wiped in the last stage.

I decided to level up before I tried again. At least I didn’t have to fight the mini bosses again. So I levelled up to the low 50s by gathering up some additional Espers and beating the last two remaining dragons, by resorting to walk throughs.

Some party members could do 9999 damage in one turn now. And I only now figured out that I could cure all party members by pressing the right shoulder button.

The second time I climbed the tower I got quite confused about how to progress. Two of the parties went all the way to the top, only to go down again to let the third party progress. All the while fighting the some battles over and over.

This time the final battle went a lot smoother. I managed it in two tries. The game has a lovely ending sequence that does justice to the epic scope of the game.

This is one game that I won’t forget anytime soon. Especially since it’s my first Final Fantasy.

I played it on the SNES Classic Mini. I think that I’ll want to play the earlier games also. But probably the pixel remasters or the 3D remasters. I’m glad the I used the little device again for 50 hours to play this magnificent game!
