With the recent addition of Dark Sun: Shattered Lands I noticed that some boxes from SSI have a red line on the spine and other don’t. At some point they decided to remove it I guess. I’ve reordered the boxes and put the ones with a line next to each other. The lines of course don’t “line up”, and the logos also are sometimes a bit different. Maybe because the games are not all for the same systems or from different parts of the world. I do like all the variations in the colors and the lettering. If those were all the same it would become very boring.

The latest addition, Dark Sun, is the largest SSI box yet. And probably the one with the least stuff inside. That’s in line with the widely described trend of boxes growing larger to grab buyers’ attention, while at the same time the amount of stuff inside grew less, because the CD-ROM format allowed for more content in the game so manuals and booklets became less necessary.
