The Baldur’s Gate 3 soundtrack looks very attractive, but the numbering is a bit odd: CD III starts with track number 29, but my CD-player just starts from 1. Looks like a slight oversight. It would have been easy to put two sets of numbers before the track name, one for digital and one for physical.
CD III track 12: “40. I Want To Live” takes me straight back to Divinity: Original Sin. I have the OST from D:OS I on CD, but not from D:OS II, which is too bad. It’s a bummer there’s no “proper” collector’s edition of D:OS II with the soundtrack on CD included. There’s only the ridiculously large edition that’s way too big (and expensive) for my gameroom.
I almost as bummed out about not having that OST as much as not having the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion OST on CD. Now that’s a soundtrack that I listen to a lot!
I notice that quite a few soundtracks are released on vinyl, but not on CD.
The reason I’m listening to the BG3 soundtrack is that I can’t wait to dive into that game (again). I’ve never posted about it here, but I already played BG3 for 20 hours or so late in 2024. I knew that my first foray into the game wouldn’t be my first complete playthrough though. That’s never the case with these kind of games. Only after 15-30 hours I realize that I’d rather take another approach in the game and start over. Now I know that you can re-spec, but I’d rather start fresh. It’s a role-playing game after all, and I want to be in a specific role from start to finish.
I played a little bit again last weekend to gear up to my serious attempt and listening to the soundtrack really puts me into the mood to start over. I don’t know yet which class I want to start with though. The first time I went with bard and while that’s nice, I felt that the dialogue options were a bit much. Maybe that’s simpler with a more battle focused class, like Warlock.
