Two new big box adventure games

Having a new big box adventure game waiting for you when you come home is a marvelous thing. And having two is, like say maybe two times as marvelous! I was notified that a package had arrived at my doorstep and I figured it would be Foolish Mortals, but little did I know that Simon The Sorcerer Origins had also arrived!

After a lot of shrink wrap removing all the boxes and included goodies were laid bare.

Simon the Sorcerer Origins comes in a box that’s not too special, but I’m glad it has lettering on the side so I can put it next to Simon I and II. The artwork doesn’t better the art on the original game, so that one stays front facing. Inside the box there’s the game with reversible artwork which is a nice touch for people that only have that version. It also includes an history / art book which I’ll be happily browsing through soon, a manual and a soundtrack CD, which was one of the reasons I’ve sprung for this release. This was very good value for money. I played a little bit of the beginning of the game and that didn’t convince me that this game will be better than Simon II, but I’m reserving judgement until later.

While unboxing Simon was fun, it was nothing compared to what came next. Foolish Mortals comes in a sturdy big box with beautiful artwork with shiny pictures. The box is filled to the brim with stuff. Maps, a blueprint, faux invitations, cards, a newspaper, leaflets, etc. And also a soundtrack CD! I really should make a list of all the games with those in my collection. My most recent inventory is already quite outdated.

The only thing missing in the box is the game itself. It isn’t even out yet! So that gives me some time to get properly immersed in the game before I get to play it.
