Sadly, I don’t have many pictures of my youth, especially not my teenage years. My parents weren’t very interested in taking photographs and it didn’t help that they were quite expensive too. A roll of film didn’t cost nothing after all and with bad equipment and lacking skills, a roll yielded only a few acceptable pictures. I do have some hope that my dad has a couple of pictures stashed away somewhere, but if he does, they haven’t surfaced yet.
That’s why I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I apparently drew pictures of my bedroom when I was in my early teens. I was heavily into drawing for a while and I have multiple sketchbooks with all kinds of drawings. Among them I discovered a detailed drawing of my bedroom, together with a measured out map from above.

It clearly shows my Commodore 64 setup as well as the HiFi system I recently reacquired. The setup was before I bought a floppy drive and after I replaced the black and white television with our first colour tv from our living room. That tv had a remote that you could pull out of a slot in the tv itself and to my knowledge communicated with the tv through almost inaudible beeps. Or maybe the infrared signal caused these sounds.
Also in the drawings are some of my Revell model building sets, like the F14 A Tomcat with foldable wings, and a row of TDK cassette tapes with recordings from the radio and from CDs I borrowed from the library.
Back to the C64: The drawing shows the C64 itself, the tapedeck and two joysticks, at least one of which is the Quickshot II Turbo.
Such a nice surprise to find this. Even if it turns out that there are no pictures of my teenage bedroom, this satisfies my nostalgia.
