Made it to Tronden in Lykia on the Commodore 64

I’ve made more progress in Lykia. I needed the built-in help system a few times. But now that I am more accustomed to the game mechanics, I’m hopeful that I won’t need as much help anymore. Which would be a good thing, because after the first town, the hint-giver goes away.

I think I will be using this blog as a journal to help me get through the game. So there will be spoilers.

The game does have random encounters! In my last post I mentioned that it hasn’t, but I simply wasn’t far enough in the game yet. After the first town, you get access to the overworld where there are random encounters. Thankfully, the fights aren’t too difficult. Yet.

I’ve made it to Tronden. It’s quite a big place. Luckily, I’ve found Gomez so I can save the game.

Here’s… Gomez!

While in Tronden, I’ve encountered Tildom who wants something from Esmeralda. She’s the organist and plays in the chapel.

Here’s Tildom

I’ve also met Ludmilla who wants me to fetch something from Verlingenhoven, another town that I’ve already been to. She gave me the password.

And that’s it for now.

  1. I’ve started a second attempt at the game this week (got it about six months ago and got distracted), I’m pretty much at the same place you are (I got to this post by googling “verlingenhoven”)

I like the game even though there’s barely any plot so far. Did you finish all of Questor’s quests? I made it to the fifth one, died by mistake and skipped ahead instead.

  2. I know what you mean about there being little plot. Especially in the beginning I had to get some hints because I didn’t know what to do. Turned out it was very simple. And I like it for that simplicity so far.

I made a little more progress in the meantime, but haven’t gotten around to posting about it yet.

I don’t remember exactly if it was the fifth quest, but after completing the last quest (about the slippers I think?), he simply wanders off or disappears. The most important thing is that you get the mittens. I always put them on when I press M for map, which is actually B for mapBook.
